I want to cosplay Miles Morales, because he's my favorite version of Spider-man, but I'm white so I was unsure if that could be considered problematic or not?
I'm 27 years old and I bought a cosplay of Madoka from Madoka Magica for Halloween. I was wondering if it would be weird to wear it to the zoo.
The word is usually used to describe dressing as a character from an anime or an action film, but apart from what society thinks, cosplay can be dressed up as anything.
Cosplay is a Japanese fan term for Costume Play; it is equivalent to the Western fan term Masquerade. Cosplay in Japan covers much of the spread that the convention masks in the West cover, from SF to fantasy, from medieval to military uniforms. It's basically a time for fans to dress up in their favorite garb or as their favorite character and have a little fun.
Cosplay is just like a roleplay, except with costumes, called cosplay.
Cosplay can be anything from anime, manga, video games, even regular movies.
